Directed by China's hottest helmsman, Yimou Zhang, Hero is produced by none other than Quentin Tarantino and stars Far Eastern martial arts legend, Jet Li as 'Nameless', a stranger with a deadly story to tell.

The film follows 'Nameless' recounting his story to Qin (Daoming Chen), the most powerful ruler in China's Six Kingdoms, explaining how he defeated three of the ruler's most dangerous enemies. Through the tale 'Nameless' tells, Qin learns how he beat 'Sky' (Donnie Yen) in a duel and how he used the love between "Broken Sword" (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) and "Flying Snow" (Maggie Cheung) against them, to defeat them both. The viewer sees the story told in a riot of different colours and as the plot twists and turns, Qin must use all of his wits to discover the truth, as well as the identity of the real heroes of the tale.

Synopsis

Hero is set in ancient China, when the country was divided into seven kingdoms. Qin, the king of the northern province, is under permanent threat of assassination attempts, especially from his greatest enemies, the warriors "Broken Sword", "Flying Snow" and "Sky". However, when one of the magistrates of his kingdom enters the palace, claiming to have defeated all three of the king's adversaries, Qin must decide the accuracy of the claim. Through the tale the magistrate tells, Qin learns how the magistrate beat "Sky" in a duel and used the love between "Broken Sword" and "Flying Snow" to subdue them. Only using all of his wits can the King discover the truth.
