Danny Boyle's (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later) darkly comic thriller Shallow Grave is heading to 4K Ultra HD on 16th November 2026, with the acclaimed British crime drama arriving in a lavish Collector's Edition Steelbook. Featuring a new 4K restoration approved by Boyle himself, the release offers fans an opportunity to revisit the director's striking debut in Dolby Vision HDR.

Originally released in 1994, Shallow Grave stars Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston and Kerry Fox as three Edinburgh flatmates whose comfortable lives take a sinister turn when their mysterious new lodger is discovered dead in his bedroom, leaving behind a suitcase stuffed with cash. Their decision to keep the money sets off an increasingly desperate chain of events, as greed, mistrust and paranoia begin to destroy their friendship.

The new presentation has been restored in 4K with the approval of director Danny Boyle and is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with Dolby Vision HDR. The two-disc Collector's Edition includes a 4K UHD and Blu-ray housed in a Steelbook, itself presented inside a rigid slipcase featuring newly illustrated artwork and spot-gloss detailing. Collectors will also find a 40-page booklet of production notes, a double-sided poster, art cards and photo cards.

A selection of previously produced special features accompanies the film, including an audio commentary with Danny Boyle, the documentary Digging Your Own Grave, and featurettes Danny Boyle on Shallow Grave and Ewan McGregor on Shallow Grave. Together, they offer an insight into the making of a film that helped establish Boyle as one of British cinema's most distinctive emerging filmmakers.

Arriving ahead of the Christmas season, Shallow Grave remains a compelling example of 1990s British cinema, combining jet-black humour, psychological tension and an increasingly unsettling examination of what happens when ordinary people find themselves tempted by extraordinary wealth.
