Runaway Jury

Details

Screen legends Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman star in their first film together, the action-packed Runaway Jury, a compelling portrayal of corruption and greed in the legal system. Based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham (The Firm, The Pelican Brief) and co-starring John Cusack and Rachel Weisz, Runaway Jury summons you to buy it on DVD 14th June 2004 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Hoffman (Confidence, Moonlight Mile) is prosecuting attorney Wendall Rohr, a man who believes wholeheartedly in the morality of his latest case. A young widow is bringing a civil suit against a gun manufacturer who makes a semi-automatic weapon which was used by a disgruntled day-trader to kill his co-workers - including her husband, Jacob (Dylan McDermott, Three to Tango).

Rohr's nemesis is not the defence attorney, but Rankin Fitch (Hackman, Behind Enemy Lines, Enemy of the State) a brilliant, but ruthless leading jury consultant who has all but guaranteed a win to the powerful gun industry. Fitch and his staff use high-tech surveillance, wire-tapping and background checks to decide which jurors will be right for their cause - gathering information on potential jurors in order to manipulate the outcome.

What Fitch doesn't count on is wildcard juror, Nicholas Easter (Cusack; Identity, High Fidelity). Outwardly, Easter is a seemingly reluctant member of the jury, but in reality he is working with the mysterious Marlee (Weisz, The Mummy) to fix the outcome of the trial. They assure both Fitch and Rohr that they can sway the jury in favour of whoever pays the highest price.

Set in New Orleans, this taut thriller from Gary Fleder (Don't Say a Word) is packed with surprising twists and turns. On DVD, Runaway Jury is packed with extras including a fascinating director's commentary, deleted scenes with optional commentary, selected scene narration and 7 brilliant featurettes.

A powerful portrayal of the importance of protecting the integrity of the jury system, Runaway Jury is a thought-provoking and fact-paced thriller that will leave you gripping the edge of your seat!
