Details

the story revolves around young Valentin (Rodrigo Noya), estranged from his divorced parents and living with his eccentric grandmother (Spanish superstar and Almodovar regular, Carmen Maura). Occasional visits from his easily angered father (played by writer-director Agresti) prove to be dismal affairs.

In between daydreaming about spaceships and being the first Argentinian to walk on the moon, Valentin secretly yearns to be part of a real family. Against his curmudgeonly grandmother's wishes, he befriends a local reclusive musician (Mex Urtizberea) and develops an unlikely relationship with one of his philandering father's beautiful ex-girlfriends (played by Argentine TV star Julieta Cardinali). When he sets about discovering the truth behind his parents' break-up, Valentin manages to profoundly touch the lives of all those with whom he comes in contact.

Agresti's semi-autobiographical film is a heartwarming feelgood movie in the tradition of Amelie and Cinema Paradiso, and enlivened by young Rodrigo Noya's wonderful performance in the title role.

Valentin will be released on DVD by Metrodome on 21st June 2004.
