The Last Kumite

Details

When Karate champion Michael Rivers wins the last tournament of his career, shady businessman Ron Hall offers him the opportunity to fight in an illegal Kumite in Bulgaria against the world's best martial artists.

When Michael declines, Hall has his daughter kidnapped and, in order to rescue her, Rivers is left with no choice but to compete in the deadly tournament.

Arriving in Bulgaria, he finds out that he is not the only fighter whose loved one was taken. Rivers enlists the help of trainers Master Loren (Billy Blanks), and Julie Jackson (Cynthia Rothrock) but will it be enough for him to win the tournament and save his daughter's life?

Directed by Ross W Clarkson, this a ferociously entertaining fight-fest that recalls the VHS favourites of the 1980s & 90s, when slow-mo bone-crunching action at no-holds-barred fight tournaments to the death was the order of the day. A passion project brought to the screen after a massively popular crowdfunding campaign - showing that audiences have nothing but love for martial arts mayhem - The Last Kumite is a dream come true for old school martial arts fans.

The Last Kumite is released on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD 13th May 2024 from Altitude Film Distribution.
