Smith leads a critically lauded cast that includes BAFTA award winner Thandie Newton (Crash, Mission Impossible II) and, making an outstanding big screen debut, his real life son, Jaden Smith. Chris Gardner (Smith) is a San Francisco salesman, struggling to make ends meet. When his girlfriend Linda (Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise their 5 year old son Christopher (Jaden Smith) alone.

His determination to better himself pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training programme, where only one in twenty will make the cut. With no salary, the Gardners are evicted from their apartment and struggle through homelessness, hunger and despair. As the obstacles become more daunting every day, Chris clings to his dream and, supported by the love and trust of his son, rises to become a respected millionaire and Wall Street legend.

The DVD is packed with unmissable added value, including a director's commentary, deleted scenes and a feature on the real man behind the movie, Chris Gardner.
