Re-visit the scene of the abduction - sci-fi television phenomenon The X-Files is celebrating its 20th anniversary and to mark this visionary series' huge success Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment are releasing a range of new ways to enjoy the show from the 2nd September 2013.
Twenty years ago, the groundbreaking series hit TV screens for the first time, changing the way we would view sci-fi shows forever and spawning two of the public's best loved characters Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). The multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winning show became the longest running science fiction series in US television history and lead to a spin off show and two feature films.
The entire pioneering series is getting an updated box set release to mark the anniversary with all 202 episodes available alongside the films for the first time. The 1998 feature film The X-Files: Fight The Future will receive its Blu-ray debut, fitted with hours of extras including an Extended Edition, several audio commentaries and alternate scenes. Whilst the original feature is also joined by 2008 sequel The X-Files: I Want To Believe in a Limited Edition Steelbook specially designed for the anniversary. The X-Files ran for 9 Seasons, garnering acclaim, plaudits, two feature films and a spin-off (The Lone Gunmen series), as well as numerous comic books, video games and a place in history as one of the most successful mainstream series of its generation.
Synopsis
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson's FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully work in the X-Files, a department specializing in unsolved paranormal phenomena. With Mulder a believer and Scully a skeptic, the pair's relationship evolves with every new episode as they come to realise that they may have become pawns in a larger overarching conspiracy.
