Toolbox Murders

Almost 30 years after shocking the world with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, director Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist; Salem's Lot) has finally made a welcome return to his roots and to terrifying form with Toolbox Murders. Now, this nerve-rattling film is coming to DVD as a 2-disc Special Edition courtesy of Anchor Bay UK, packed with extra features including behind-the-scenes footage and an audio commentary by Tobe Hooper and writers Jace Anderson and Adam Gierasch.

Nell (Angela Bettis) and her husband Steven (Brent Roam) move to LA, taking on an apartment in the Lusman Arms, once a famous Hollywood hotel. Now run-down and neglected, the Lusman's corridors are dark and forbidding, its apartments home to the desperate and the dispossessed.

With Steven working shifts as a doctor, Nell is frequently left home alone and becomes increasingly disturbed by strange noises she hears in the dead of night. Then, one by one, the Lusman's residents begin to disappear. Convinced there is something malevolent in the very fabric of the building, Nell sets out to uncover the truth - a quest that brings her face to face with pure evil

Hooper's inventive reworking of Dennis Donnelly's notorious exploitative slasher from 1978 stars up-and-coming actress Angela Bettis (star of the cult hit film May and the TV remake of Carrie) and genre favourite Juliet Landau (Ed Wood; Pump Up The Volume; Drusilla in TV's Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel) in a creepy tale of terror with a supernatural twist.

A throwback to the spirit of the classic "stalk-and-slash" movies of the late 70s and early 80s, Toolbox Murders ups the ante, piling on the gore and pushing all the right scare buttons to produce one of the most crowd-pleasing frighteners in recent years.

The 2-disc Special Edition Toolbox Murders will be released on DVD by Anchor Bay UK on 11th April 2005.
