Produced by horrormeister Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street; Scream) and co-scripted by his son Jonathan Craven, "Alien" meets "The Hills Have Eyes" in Mind Ripper starring Lance Henriksen (Near Dark; Aliens), Giovanni Ribisi (Lost In Translation; Saving Private Ryan), Natasha Gregson Wagner (Wonderland; High Fidelity; Revenant), John Diehl (Jurassic Park III; Pearl Harbor) and Claire Stansfield (The Doors; TV's Xena: Warrior Princess).

A scientific team based at a remote, underground former nuclear plant picks up a seriously injured man found alone and dying in the desert. They save his life by injecting him with an experimental virus developed by Jim Stockton (Lance Henriksen). When he discovers his work is being used to assist the military in producing a "super soldier", Stockton quits his job at Gentec in protest. In his absence, the team continues to develop the virus using the injured man, now dubbed Thor, as a human guinea pig.

Unknown to the team, the virus has caused Thor to develop a need to consume human brains in order to survive and he is slowly dying. The team calls in the only man who knows enough about the virus to save the experiment - Jim Stockton - who agrees to assist in saving the man's life once more. Intending to combine his brief visit to Gentec's labs with a family camping trip, Stockton decides to bring his son, his daughter and her boyfriend along for the ride. In the meantime, Thor has been awoken and released into the underground compound by a freak power failure and goes on the rampage terrorising the remaining scientists in his search for cerebral sustenance.

Effectively directed by Joe Gayton (Warm Summer Rain; Sweet Jane), Mind Ripper bears many of the directorial hallmarks of producer Wes Craven, most notably evident in a truly shocking sequence, the details of which are best experienced without prior warning.

Mind Ripper will be released on DVD by Anchor Bay UK on 28th June 2004. Special Features include widescreen presentation, film notes, stills gallery, talent biographies, 2.0 Dolby Stereo and optional 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS audio, and scene selection.
