Set in the 1930s on the beautiful Amalfi coastline, A Good Woman, released by Paramount Home Entertainment from 20th February 2006, is an elegant, witty, romantic comedy based on Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan. The star studded cast really brings this film to life and will engage perfectly with any romantic at heart.
A young couple's marriage is put in jeopardy by high-society gossip. Robert Windermere (Mark Umbers) is accused with providing a secret allowance for Mrs Erlynne (Academy Award® Winner, Helen Hunt from As Good As It Gets), a vampish older woman of ill repute.
Meanwhile Windermere's wife, Meg (Golden Globe® nominee, Scarlett Johansson who has recently appeared in the critically acclaimed Matchpoint), is attracting the attentions of Lord Darlington (Stephen Campbell Moore), a notorious playboy. In the meantime Tuppy (Academy Award® Nominee, Tom Wilkinson from the applauded, In the Bedroom) is haplessly pursuing the lady of his dreams Mrs Erlynne.
Amidst the tangled web of intrigue the truth begins to emerge, and it becomes apparent a dark family secret lies beneath the surface.
Presenting a superbly talented cast on all levels, A Good Woman is an engaging, romantic comedy which perfectly captures the elegance and beauty of the 1930s time period in which it is set.
