The film's origins trace back to Luhrmann's work on the 2022 biopic Elvis, during which he uncovered a treasure trove of long-lost concert footage from Elvis Presley's Las Vegas performances in the 1970s, alongside rare 16-track audio recordings.

Captured using large MGM cameras over multiple nights during Elvis's 1970 Las Vegas residency and shot in 35mm anamorphic, this footage forms the foundation of EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert, meticulously restored and reimagined to place audiences directly inside the spectacle.
