Relive the tension, suspense and sheer horror of the critically acclaimed, multi-million box office splash-hit Open Water, released to buy and rent on DVD and to rent on VHS from 27th December 2004 from Redbus Home Entertainment.

Described as "Blair Witch meets Jaws" (The Observer), critics have been raving about the ingeniously harrowing, knees-to-your-chest thriller Open Water. The Times hailed the film as "...so effective you actually begin to feel wet, cold and threatened" and The Independent said that it "...will leave you stunned and nerve jangled"

Skillfully created on a minimal budget by scuba diving enthusiasts Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, the film relied on authenticity and was shot 20 miles out in the open ocean. There are no computer generated effects and no stunt people, the sharks you see circling the actors (who spent 120 hours in the water) are all real, and wild, adding to the unpredictability and tension.

While shining a light on how we often take our comfortable lives and our relationships for granted, Open Water reminds us of the fragility and vulnerability of modern man in relation to the vast and indiscriminate power of nature.

Based on true events, Open Water follows a young couple, Daniel and Susan, (Daniel Travis and Blanchard Ryan) on an island holiday. Even before they leave for the airport, we learn that their relationship is under strain from their workaholic lifestyles, and they need a vacation even more than they realised.

The next morning the couple, certified scuba divers, board a local dive boat for an underwater tour of the reef. The boat is crowded with other vacationers, and due to a series of innocent miscommunications, the couple is, after only 40 minutes or so underwater, accidentally left behind. What follows is the story of their ordeal: cold, alone and miles from land, the couple is adrift in shark-infested waters.

The stunningly designed DVD will be packed with special features, some of which were created for the UK release.
